Mozambique is a partner country for the Belgian cooperation since 1999.
The Belgian cooperation supports programmes and projects in Mozambique through channels as follows:
Complementarily to the above mentioned channels, Belgian Parliament passed a law in 2001 creating the “Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries” (BIO). The objective of BIO is the development of private enterprise in developing countries.
The Republic of Mozambique and the Kingdom of the Belgium elaborated the Indicative Cooperation Programme (ICP) based on the consultation between the two countries for the period of 2006-2008. The ICP will serve as the reference for document for the identification and implementation of the bilateral cooperation programme and it contains the objectives, main areas and themes of direct cooperation, the indicative amount allocated for the specific objectives, sectors or themes and mutually agreed upon.
